The next morning, we all set up to head out to Equinos.

“Thank you all again, so very much,” A very excited tradesman said, shaking my hand vigorously.

“All in a day’s work,” Lefured assured them. “The crown should be sending more guards for patrols in the coming days.”

The old farmer we’d met shook his head while looking out at the fields, “We would've been lucky if we didn't starve between the poor crops, the cursed land and the monsters mucking about. Can’t say enough how much it means.”

“It was our genuine pleasure," Levy said graciously.

“It's a shame that I had to take these five-hundred gold back to be investigated,” Leufred said, holding a considerably lighter sack of gold than we'd seen originally.

Leufred winked at us, talking to the farmer.

“He seems to be acting odd, Darling,” Mira noted.

“I think it's a bit of clever wordplay,” I whispered. “Yes! That four hundred and fifty we managed to recover will help greatly in the investigations on theft around this capitol.” I said playing along.

Leufred nodding his head as I held the other hundreds of gold pieces in my inventory.

“You all have safe travels!” The farmer laughed. “Though I think the monsters should be afraid of you all.”

As we were about to leave, an idea struck me. Seeing all that gold in one place reminded me of my favorite way to grind currency in KoD.

“Hold on!” I said, stopping. “I’ll be right back!”

I dashed to the inn, where the bar lady was repairing the damage done to the building's exterior. She saw me and her eyebrows furrowed.

“Oh no, you don't!” She said, swinging a tiny hammer near my face. “You and your little girlfriends caused enough damage as it is.”

“But I…”

“You're banned from the inn, and so are your friends!”

I smiled and made a sarcastic fainting motion. “Oh no…To think that I was banned from my favorite inn.” I dropped the act and smirked, “Well, I can't have that! So why don’t I just buy it from you?”

She looked at me oddly, “I'm sorry?”

“No! Let me apologize,” I said smoothly, pulling out two hundred gold coins. “Perhaps we can come to an accord?”

In half a second, she snatched the bag out of my hands. Weighing the bag of coins, she jingled it, listening carefully. Once it was to her satisfaction, she nodded emotionlessly.

“Great doing business with you,” She stuck a hand out for me to shake. “I assume you want thirty percent?”

I smiled, knowing she didn’t think I was that dumb.

“Fifty percent.”

“Forty.”

“Fifty.”

“...Forty five.”

I leaned in slightly, “Fifty.”

“Forty-nine?”

“How about fifty-five?”I asked in a sing-song voice, sticking my hand out as well.

She looked at me with the confident smile on my face before looking away, “Alright, fifty percent.”

“Deal.”

After the handshake I returned to the crew, happy with my decision. I didn't actually plan on coming back to collect my split, but I figured that this could help the area and put some money in community. And with that, we were back on the road towards Equinos.

Once we were back on the road it was back to business as usual.
